Skidmore gets best of Bard to get to 7-0 in league

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Seven different players scored six or more and every member of the roster registered at least two points for the Skidmore College women's basketball team in a lopsided 69-21 win at Bard on Saturday.
 
  • The Thoroughbreds are off to their best league start in program history at 7-0. With its fifth straight victory, Skidmore is 11-3. Bard slips to 1-11 and 0-5 in the Liberty League.
  • Skidmore's bench outscored Bard's 50-0.
  • First year Madison Meyer scored a game-high 11 points on a perfect 5-for-5 shooting afternoon. She also matched the game high with four steals.
  • Classmate Melissa Severino had 10 points and four rebounds.
  • Cassie Davidson also had an unblemished 3-for-3 outing from the field and finished with eight points, three rebounds, and two assists.
  • Emilija Jakumaite also scored eight and hit 2-of-3 from 3-point range.
  • Julia Blanck, Emmy Plage, and Maddie Hastings all dropped six points. Blanck added 10 rebounds, three assists, and a block.
  • Skidmore finished with a decisive 44-23 edge in rebounds including 18 offensive boards.
  • The Thoroughbreds also rode away with a 30-2 cushion in points off turnovers and a 42-6 margin in points in the paint.
  • Shirley Dong led the Raptors with eight points. Maggy Peyton had 10 rebounds.
  • NEXT UP: Skidmore will finish its first turn through the Liberty League next weekend (Jan. 20-21) when it hosts Ithaca and Rensselaer.
