Skidmore wins 2-0 on the road at Sage

ALBANY, N.Y. – Goals by junior Kyra Russman-Araya and senior Isabella Nevin lifted the Skidmore College women's soccer team to a 2-0 road victory at Sage on Tuesday evening.

  • Russman-Araya has goals in three out of four games on the year and four goals total. She scored late in the first half from just inside 10 yards out on a one-touch volley on a bouncing cross from outside the box on the right from Ella Stone. Stone set up the chance by splitting a pair of defenders shortly after a Skidmore throw-in.
  • Nevin made it 2-0 in the 66th minute when she beat her mark wide after forcing a turnover. She slid the shot through the Gator keeper's legs. It was Nevin's first goal and points of the season.
  • Skidmore (3-1) dominated statistically, outshooting the hosts 14-7 with 12 shots on target while surrendering just two against.
  • Claire Wolgast stopped both shots she saw to earn the first solo shutout of her collegiate career for the Thoroughbreds.
  • Emma DeMatteo had 10 saves for Sage (1-3-1).
  • Skidmore finished with the advantage in corner kicks, 6-3.

NEXT UP: The Thoroughbreds will play the last of four consecutive road games on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 1 p.m. versus Mount Saint Mary College.
