Skidmore names Liz Neubinski head softball coach

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Skidmore College has named Liz Neubinski head softball coach. Neubinski recently completed her fourth year as head coach at nearby SUNY Cobleskill.

"We are very excited to welcome Liz to Skidmore College as our next head softball coach and back to her roots of competing in the Liberty League," said Gail Cummings-Danson, Skidmore athletics director and assistant vice president for student affairs. "Throughout our search process, it became evident quickly that Liz would become a valuable member of our department and be a great role model for our student-athletes.

"Her commitment to each student's success and desire to educate beyond just the game resonated well with our department and campus."

Neubinski led the 2022 Cobleskill team to a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Western Division regular-season championship with an 11-1 record. She was named the 2022 NAC Coach of the Year and produced a program-record six all-conference selections. Her 2022 squad led the division with 95 runs, 138 hits, 26 doubles, eight home runs, 87 RBI, and 40 extra-base hits with a team batting average of .400. Additionally, Neubinski's 2019 team won the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) North Division and won the first postseason game in program history.

"I would like to thank Gail Cummings-Danson and the search committee for choosing me to be the next coach at Skidmore College," Neubinski said. "Everyone I had the opportunity to meet while on campus made it very clear that this is a wonderful place to be.

"I am so excited to build on the success of the softball program and to be a member of the Skidmore community. The Liberty League has always been special to me, and I cannot wait to be back in it with the incredible student-athletes here at Skidmore."

Neubinski returns to the Liberty League after a stellar playing career at the University of Rochester from 2008-2011. As the program won a pair of Liberty League titles and earned two NCAA Tournament appearances, Neubinski was honored on the All-University Athletic Association Second Team as a rookie before a pair of All-Liberty League Honorable Mention nods followed by Liberty League All-Conference Second Team recognition as a senior.

Prior to Cobleskill, Neubinski spent two years in Southern California as the head coach at the University of Redlands, where she led the program to 31 victories including 22 wins in the highly competitive Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC).

Neubinski previously served as the head coach and assistant sports information director at Wells College and was instrumental to the re-implementation of the softball program, which included the development of the school's first turf field.

Neubinski began her coaching career as a full-time assistant at Hamilton College and acted as the interim head coach during a four-month transition in the head-coaching position.

Liz earned a bachelors in Studio Arts from Rochester as well as a masters in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University.
