Thoroughbreds come up short at Clarkson in finale

POTSDAM, N.Y. – The Skidmore College men's lacrosse team dropped its season finale at Clarkson on Saturday afternoon, 13-8.
 
  • Skidmore closes the season 5-9 and 0-7 in the Liberty League.
  • Jon Bouvier, Brian Gonsalves, and Charlie McFadden each scored twice for the Thoroughbreds.
  • McFadden also had an assist to finish with three points.
  • Tim Blue and Tommy McGarrhan both scored once.
  • Alex Carpenter and Jimmy Gibbons contributed one assist each.
  • Collin Kuester tallied 11 saves.
  • For Clarkson, Thomas Fiebich led with four goals and two assists. Sebastian Geiger went for three and two.
  • Golden Knight goalie Matt Yonko had 19 saves.
  • Clarkson was ahead by a pair after the first quarter but after matching second and third periods, the Golden Knights were ahead 8-6 entering the final 15.
  • Bouvier scored in the first minute of the fourth quarter to pull Skidmore to within one.
  • A defensive battle ensued after Clarkson re-gained its two-goal advantage, until Gonsalves brought the Thoroughbreds back to just one goal down.
  • Clarkson put it away by scoring the game's final four goals.
  • The hosts won 18-of-24 faceoffs.
  • Paul Heffernan caused three turnovers for the Thoroughbreds.
  • Skidmore led in shots, 48-42 and committed just 13 turnovers to Clarkson's 23.
  • The Thoroughbreds also had a narrow edge in ground balls, 28-27.
