Skidmore bitten by Vassar in overtime

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Vassar scored in the last minute of regulation to tie it up and again, man up, 30 seconds into the overtime period to top the Skidmore College men's lacrosse team, 16-15.
 
  • Connor Deehan scored the man up game winner for Vassar (6-4, 1-2 Liberty) on a feed from Logan Hyde.
  • The back-and-forth tilt featured seven tied scores, including three in the fourth quarter.
  • Skidmore went on a three-goal run late into the fourth quarter to take a one-goal lead, 15-14, with under a minute to play. The Thoroughbreds used two man-up goals in the burst.
  • Despite the repetitive even scores, Skidmore's only lead of the contest was in the final minute of the fourth quarter.
  • Vassar's advantage was never larger than three (3-0; 10-7).
  • Charlie McFadden had a career-high seven points on four goals and three assists to lead Skidmore (5-4, 0-2 Liberty).
  • Brian Gonsalves had three goals and an assist.
  • Jon Bouvier posted two goals and one helper.
  • Alex Carpenter also scored twice.
  • Brandon Reilly finished with three points on a goal and a pair of assists.
  • Charlie Kessler and Tim Blue both scored once.
  • Collin Kuester was relied on to make 16 saves for the Thoroughbreds. It is his second consecutive and fourth overall showing of 15+ saves.
  • Logan Hyde led the Brewers with three goals and an assist.
  • Ian Zumpano, Ryan Metz, and Dan Negron each scored twice. Negron added two assists, and Zumpano had one.
  • Jack Bagin stole the show with 21 saves for the hosts.
  • Skidmore earned a narrow 47-46 shot advantage (36-32 shots on goal) while also edging the Brewers in ground balls, 33-31.
  • Vassar held a slim 18-15 margin in faceoffs. Luke Curtin won 10-of-20 draws for the Thoroughbreds.
  • Defensively, Tommy McGarrahan led the way with three caused turnovers. Bobby Meindl had two.
