Thoroughbreds split with Cobleskill

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College softball team went 1-1 with SUNY Cobleskill Wednesday in a non-league doubleheader at Wagner Park. The Thoroughbreds won game 1 9-1 in six innings and dropped the night cap 10-4.  Skidmore is 12-4, while the Fighting Tigers are 2-6.
 
GAME 1
  • Skidmore looked sharp from the start scoring four in the first on the way to building a 7-1 lead before Cobleskill scored a single run in the fifth. The Thoroughbreds forced the mercy rule with two runs in the sixth.
  • Chloe McGonagle keyed the first inning rally with a two-run single.She finished 2-3 with a run and two RBI.
  • Megan White continued her hot hitting. She was 3-4 with two doubles and two RBI.
  • Kaitlyn Judd was 1-3 with a two-run game-ending double in the sixth.
  • The Thoroughbreds took advantage of five Cobleskill errors.
  • Lindsey Raimondi matched her 2021 win total, improving to 5-1 with the complete game win. She allowed one run on four hits, walking five and striking out one.
 
GAME 2
  • Skidmore went up 2-0 with single runs in the first and second. The Fighting Tigers scored three on a 3-run homer in the third and then put seven on the board in the fourth for a 10-2 lead.
  • The Thoroughbreds scored a pair in the fifth on a Hannah Davis RBI single and Katie Anderson's fielder's choice.
  • Cobleskill held Skidmore to four hits.
  • Davis pitched four solid innings in relief, allowing an unearned run on four hits, no walks and three strikeouts.
 
NEXT UP: Skidmore will host Williams College for two on Friday, starting at 3 p.m.
