Singles sweep leads Skidmore to 7-2 win over Bates

WILTON, N.Y.— Down 2-1 after doubles, the Skidmore College men's tennis team went 6-0 in doubles for a 7-2 win over Bates College Thursday evening at the Saratoga YMCA.  The win snaps a five-game losing streak for the 3-6 Thoroughbreds. Bates is 2-5.
 
  • Zachary Portnoy and Brendan Jimenez won 8-7 at number two doubles over Teddy Koide and Leo Kupferman to prevent a Bates doubles sweep.
  • The Thoroughbreds stormed back to win all six singles matches. Portnoy was a 6-3, 6-3 winner at number one over Nick Forester.
  • John Rado won a come-from-behind marathon at number two, 6-7, 7-6, 6-3 against Alex Gujarath.
  • Skidmore returns to Liberty League play at Ithaca on Saturday and at home Sunday at 1 p.m. against RIT.
