Home Sweep Home for Skidmore softball

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College opened its home schedule with an 8-0, 6-3 sweep of Russell Sage College Wednesday afternoon at Wagner Park.  The Thoroughbreds are off to a 9-3 start, while the Gators are 3-10.

GAME ONE
  • Bernie Berner gave the Thoroughbreds the lead in the second on a two-out single to score Kaitlyn Judd from third. Judd walked to lead off the inning and advanced on consecutive sacrifice bunts.
  • Meghan White hit a long solo homer to center field to make it 2-0 in the third.
  • Katie Anderson and Kate Wilkie hit back-to-back homers, both to center field, to double Skidmore's lead to four in the fourth.
  • Skidmore ended it with four more in the sixth, highlighted by a two-run double from Meghan Robertson.
  • Chloe McGonagle reached base safely in all three trips to the plate. She was 2-for-2 with two singles and a walk.
  • White and Robertson both finished 2-for-4 with two runs batted in.
  • Lindsey Raimondi tossed a three-hit shutout to improve to 3-1 in the circle. She walked one and struck out four.

GAME TWO
  • It was the Hannah Davis show in game in the night cap. Davis ran her record to 5-1 on the mound with a complete game win. She allowed three runs, one earned on eight hits and struck out six. She didn't walk a batter. At the plate, she drilled a two-run homer to deep left center in the bottom of the first to erase a 2-0 Russell Sage lead. She finished 2-3 with three RBI.
  • Skidmore scored four unearned runs with two outs in the second to go up for good. White took advantage of a dropped foul ball to hit a two-run double for the first two runs. She scored on a Robertson double. Davis then plated Robertson with an RBI single.
  • White finished 2-4 with two runs and two RBI.
  • Genesis Delgado was 2-3 and had a big late game defensive putout on a foul fly out.
