Davis one-hits Canton to close out Florida schedule

FORT MYERS, Fla.—Skidmore softball senior Hannah Davis pitched a one-hit shutout  and drilled a home run in a five-inning one-hit 10-0 shutout of SUNY Canton Friday afternoon. The win closed out a 7-3 trip to open the 2022 season for the Thoroughbreds. Skidmore dropped Friday's first game, 11-1 to Central.
 
The Thoroughbreds open the Northern part of the schedule March 25 at home with a home pair against Russell Sage.

  • Davis was near perfect against Canton. She struck out six and walked one. She retired the first nine batters she faced before walking the leadoff hitter in the third. She later allowed a leadoff infield hit in the fifth.
  • At the plate, Davis was 2-3 with a double and a solo home run. She hit .500 for the trip with a .906 slugging percentage and nine RBI. She was 4-1 in the mound.
  • Skidmore pounded out 11 hits in four innings. Kaitlyn Judd was 2-2 with a double and two RBI. Sarah Burr had a pinch hit two-run double. Bernie Berner was 2-3 with a bases loaded triple in the fourth.
  • For the trip, Skidmore hit .326 as a team, the first time the team has been over .300 since the 2018 season. The Thoroughbreds hit .258 in its last Florida trip in 2020.
  • In addition to Davis, White (.452) and Robertson (.433) are hitting over .400 with at least two plate appearances per game.
