Thoroughbreds win two more

Fort Myers, Fla.—The Skidmore College softball team added a pair of wins to its record Tuesday, 3-2 over Western Connecticut and 7-1 over Maine Presque Isle.  The Thoroughbreds are off to a 5-1 start.  
 
GAME 1
  • Skidmore came from behind with three runs in the fifth inning for the 3-2 win. 
  • With runners on the corners and two outs, Megan White had an RBI bunt single, scoring Chloe McGonagle. Meghan Robertson had an infield RBI single, plating Melissa Mathias and Hannah Davis closed out the winning rally with an RBI single to right that scored White. 
  • Davis was 2-3 with a triple. Delaney Corbet was 1-2 with a double and sacrifice.
  • Davis earned the win, going the full seven innings. She allowed two runs on six hits, striking out four and walking two. 
 
GAME 2
  • Skidmore broke open a 2-1 game with five runs on two hits in the fourth inning.
  • Lindsey Raimondi had the complete game win. She allowed one run on four hits with nine strikeouts and four walks.
  • All of Skidmore's seven hits were singles.
  • Bernie Berner was 2-3 with a run. Robertson was 1-3 with a run and two RBI.
  • After going the first five games without a walk, Skidmore drew eight walks against MPI.
  • The team will take a well deserved day off on Wednesday before playing Oneonta and Alfred State on Thursday.
