Game 2 walk-off secures split for Skidmore softball

FORT MYERS, Fla.— Hannah Davis drilled a no-out single to center field in the bottom of the seventh to scored Meghan Robertson who opened the inning with a double to give the Skidmore College softball team a 5-4 win over SUNY Brockport Tuesday afternoon. The Thoroughbreds dropped the opener to Kenyon, 11-3.
 
GAME 1
  • Kenyon scored six runs in the top of the seventh to break the game open.
  • Skidmore's offense came through with three runs in the bottom of the seventh. Megan White had a two-run triple and then scored on a Robertson single.
  • White, Katie Wilkie, and Robertson had two hits each.
  • Davis had a double.
GAME 2
  • In addition to her walk-off heroics, Davis earned the win in relief. She had a scoreless seventh inning. Lindsey Raimondi went the first six innings, allowing four runs on nine hits. She walked four and struck out five.
  • Davis finished 3-4 with three RBI. White was 2-4 with a double and a pair of runs, while Melissa Mathias was 2-3 with a run and a double.
  • Skidmore battled back from a 4-2 deficit for the win with single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings.
  • The Thoroughbred trip continues on Tuesday with games against Western Connectituct and Maine Presque Isle.
