Balanced offense in 19-1 win over Eastern Connecticut

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College men's lacrosse team posted its fourth straight win Friday night, 19-1 over Eastern Connecticut State University at Wachenheim Field.
 
  • The 4-1 Thoroughbreds are off to their best start since the 2011 season when the team began 8-1. Eastern is 1-2.
  • 10 different Skidmore players scored goals, led by three each from John Bouvier, Charlie McFadden, and Jimmy Gibbons. Ben Gastonguay had two goals and three assists for a team-high five points.
  • Skidmore led 4-0 before Andrew Pendagast scored the lone ECSU goal with 13:44 left in the fourth quarter.
  • Four Thoroughbreds scored their first goals of the season. Tim Blue, James Bell, Brandon Reilly, and David Muti all hit the sheet for the first time.
  • Skidmore set a game record with 60 ground balls, topping the previous mark of 54 set in 2012 against Babson. Jack Fitzpatrick had a team-high six, while Blue and Bell had five each. Fitzpatrick won 11 of 12 faceoffs.
  • Owen Quinn had a team-high four caused turnovers. Eastern had 39 turnovers.
  • Skidmore outshot ECSU 63-11. Four goalies split time for the Thoroughbreds. Starter Collin Kuester got the win. Avery Stamps had one save in 22:18. Chris Downey didn't face a shot in 7:42 and Ned Wright had two fourth quarter saves.
  • The Thoroughbreds did not allow a shot on goal in the first and third quarters.
  • Skidmore hosts Bowdoin College in a rare weekday matinee on March 15 at 2 p.m.
