Thoroughbreds host 15-Love clinic

WILTON, N.Y.—The Skidmore College men's tennis team spent a weekend off day conducting a free 15-Love youth clinic Feb. 26 at the Wilton YMCA.

15Love2More than 30 participants took part drills and teaching conducted by Skidmore players and coaches.

The 15-LOVE mission statement is "to reach out in a loving caring way to the youth of the Capital Region, using tennis as the medium, especially those in the inner cities."

Since its 1990 start in the Capital District, 15-Love has served more than 50,000 inner-city youth with free programming including, college prep, leadership training, SAT prep, school supply distribution, Book Power Club, year-round tennis, and heathy cooking and gardening.

Head coach Nate Simms and his Skidmore teams have volunteered annually for the program.

The late Arthur Ashe was instrumental in helping found the 15-LOVE Program.  He himself got his start on public courts; his philosophy and ours is to "use tennis to teach the game of life."

15-LOVE operates independently in NY's Capital Region, and is a member of the USTA Foundation's National Junior Tennis & Learning (NJTL) network. 15-LOVE is focused upon the whole child, striving to make an impact that lasts a lifetime. It is a program of prevention
