CANTON, N.Y. – St. Lawrence outscored the Skidmore College women's basketball team 25-2 in the first quarter and raced to a 76-45 win on Friday.

Skidmore (13-9, 8-9 Liberty League) will close the regular season on Saturday at 2 p.m. against Clarkson. Following Friday's results, the Thoroughbreds are tied for fifth place with RIT (RIT holds the potential tiebreaker). The Tigers defeated RPI on Friday and will close against Bard. Skidmore needs a win on Saturday and a RIT loss to move up to fifth position and a meeting with fourth-place Union in the quarterfinals. Â Â

St. Lawrence (19-4, 14-3 Liberty League) will finish third in league standings regardless of Saturday's results and will host a quarterfinal game against the number six seed. Â Â

Kate McCarney had 11 points to lead Skidmore.
Julia Blanck finished with eight points and 11 rebounds with a game high four blocks.
Sarah Chambers also scored eight

For the Saints, Ava McCann and Katie Frederick led with 16 points apiece. Frederick pulled in 11 rebounds (seven offensive) for the double-double. Â

Skidmore was held without a field goal over the first 15:22. SLU's torrid start was highlighted by separate runs of 17 and 13 unanswered points until McCarney converted a 3-point play followed by a 3-pointer in the middle of the second quarter.
