SPRINGFIELD, Mass.—The Skidmore College women's basketball team returned to action with a solid 68-44 win over Wilkes University in the first round of the Hampton Inn West Springfield/Naismith Classic being played at Springfield College. The Thoroughbreds are 6-2, while Wilkes is 3-8.

• Andi Levitz led Skidmore with a career-high 24 points off the bench. Julia Blanck added 12 points and 11 rebounds and Emmy Plage had six points and 10 rebounds.
• Yamirelis Matos scored 19 for Wilkes.
• The Thoroughbreds took control from the opening tip, scoring the game's first 14 points on the way to a quick 22-2 lead with 3:55 to play in the first quarter.
• Skidmore extended the lead 46-18 at the half.
• Skidmore will play 10-1 Trinity College on Saturday 5:30 p.m. The unranked Bantams beat host and 13^th ranked Springfield 58-45. It will be the first contest between the two schools since a 65-62 Trinity win at Skidmore in 2014.
