2022 Women's Soccer All-Liberty League

Kat Dunn named Player of the Year; Skidmore wins Co-Coaching Staff of the Year, five earn All-Conference distinction

TROY, N.Y. – Skidmore College women's soccer junior forward Kat Dunn was named the 2022 Liberty League Women's Soccer Player of the Year. The coaching staff, led by head coach Lacey Largeteau, was named the Co-Coaching Staff of the Year. Additionally, five members of the squad earned All-Conference honors.
 
  • Dunn was also voted onto the All-Liberty League First Team, where she is joined by junior goalkeeper Claire Wolgast.
  • Junior midfielder Kyra Russman-Araya represented Skidmore on the Second Team.
  • Meanwhile, senior forward Isabella Nevin and first-year defender Molly Cunningham earned Honorable Mention recognition.
 
Kat Dunn – Liberty League Player of the Year, All-Liberty League First Team
  • Dunn is Skidmore's first Liberty League Player of the Year in women's soccer.
  • She played in all 16 games this season for the Thoroughbreds, helping lead the team to earning the #3 seed in Liberty League Tournament.
  • Dunn had a team-high eight goals. She was tied for second in the league with 1.00 points per game, and fifth with 0.50 goals per game.
  • Dunn's goals routinely came in big moments, as five of her eight tallies were game-winning goals, where she ranks in the top-20 nationally in the category.
  • Dunn had a pair of multi-goal games: 9/10 at New Paltz, 10/22 at St. Lawrence.
  • In Liberty League games, Dunn scored four goals in nine games and led the league with three game winners.
 
Lacey Largeteau, Patrick Morency, Jason Tenner – Liberty League Co-Coaching Staff of the Year
  • It is also the first Coaching Staff of the Year recognition for Skidmore and Largeteau, who share the award with the coaching staff from Clarkson.
  • Skidmore finished its season ranked second in the league in team defense with only nine goals allowed all year.
  • Skidmore returned to the playoffs for the second year in a row and hosted a postseason game for the first time since 2013.
  • With an overall record of 10-2-4, it was the first time Skidmore reached the double-digit win plateau since 2013 (12-4-2)
 
Claire Wolgast – All-Liberty League First Team
  • The Liberty League's leader in saves (84) and saves per game (6.00), Wolgast started 14 games, including all nine conference tilts for the Thoroughbreds in goal.
  • Wolgast finished with a record of 9-1-4. She posted a goals-against average of 0.538 and a save percentage of .923.
  • She allowed just one goal over the first seven starts of the year and surrendered just seven goals on the season, and never more than two in a game.
 
Kyra Russman-Araya – All-Liberty League Second Team
  • Skidmore's junior midfielder had five goals and a team high four assists for 14 points in 2022. She started all 16 games for Skidmore.
  • Russman-Araya got off to a blazing start, scoring two goals and two assists in the season opener and finishing the first four contests with four goals and two assists.
  • In the Liberty League, she finished tied for seventh with four assists and eighth with 14 points.
 
Isabella Nevin – All-Liberty League Honorable Mention
  • Nevin finished her senior season with five goals and one assist for 11 points.
  • She scored in three consecutive games from Sept. 13-21.
  • On Oct. 21 versus Clarkson, Nevin scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 Skidmore victory.
  • She also scored big goals in conference matches versus Vassar and Union. Additionally, she had an assist in the First Round game against Clarkson.
 
Molly Cunningham – All-Liberty League Honorable Mention
  • Cunningham made an immediate impact for the Thoroughbreds as a first year, scoring a goal in the season opener on her first career shot.
  • Throughout the majority of the year, Cunningham started in the back line and contributed to a defensive unit that finished its season tied for second in the league in allowing just 0.56 goals per game.
  • Cunningham had three points on the year after adding an assist at New Paltz.
