Patrick Morency enters his ninth season as an assistant women’s soccer coach at Skidmore, after joining the program in 2017.
As a Thoroughbred, Morency played a key role in guiding the program back into the NCAA Tournament in 2024 and was recognized alongside the entire coaching staff as the Liberty League Women’s Soccer Coaching Staff of the Year in 2022.
Working extensively with the goalkeepers, Morency helped coach Claire Wolgast ’24 into being the D3soccer.com Goalkeeper of the Year and a D3soccer.com First Team All-American in 2022. Skidmore goalies have also earned United Soccer Coaches All-Region selections during Morency’s tenure, with Wolgast being named to the first team in 2022 and Ava Keller ’22 being selected onto the third team in 2021.
Prior to Skidmore, Morency served as the varsity girls soccer head coach at Bolton Central School from 2010 to 2017. As head coach, Morency compiled a record of 76-42-3 while also guiding his team to a pair of New York State Public High School Athletic Association State Championship Final Four appearances in 2014 and 2016. Morency was also awarded as the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Section 2 Class D Girls Soccer Coach of the Year in both 2014 and 2016.
Other coaching stops include serving as a staff coach with Saratoga-Wilton Soccer Club from 2015-18; staff coach with the Adirondack Lynx Female Soccer Academy from 2012-15; and with Shenentaha Soccer Club from 2005-12.
Morency also holds multiple coaching certifications and licenses from United Soccer Coaches, such as the “Advanced National Coaching License” and the “Goalkeeping Level 3 Coaching License”.
In addition to coaching with the Thoroughbreds, Morency teaches as a 6-12 social studies teacher at Bolton Central School, where he has worked since 2003.
Morency earned a B.A. in secondary education/social studies from SUNY Plattsburgh in 2003 and obtained a Master’s degree in curriculum & instruction from SUNY Plattsburgh in 2007.
