Skidmore opens with 76-51 win over Oneonta

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College women's basketball team took an 8-0 lead and never looked back in a 76-51 nonconference win over SUNY Oneonta Thursday night at the Williamson Sports Center. The Thoroughbreds are 1-0, while the Red Dragons are 1-1.
  • Andi Levitz came off the bench to score a game-high 19 points to lead the Thoroughbreds. Amelia Medolla hit for 11 off the bench. Emmy Plage scored nine points and had a team-high 10 rebounds and three blocks, while Sarah Chambers added nine points.
  • Sophia Wakin scored 10 and had six rebounds for Oneonta.
  • Skidmore never trailed in the contest, expanding the 8-0 start into a 24-7 lead after the first quarter. The Thoroughbreds pushed the lead to 27-7 on a three by Emilija Jakumaite early in the second quarter.
  • The Red Dragons used a 23-8 run to cut it to five, 35-30 with 1:35 to play in the half. Levitz hit back-to-back threes and Sarah Chambers scored at the buzzer to put Skidmore back in charge 43-30 at the half.
  • Oneonta never got back to within 10 the rest of the way.
  • Skidmore scored 27 points off 16 Red Dragon turnovers. The team scored 47 bench points to 26 for Oneonta.
  • The Thoroughbreds were 11-26 from beyond the arc, with Levitz hitting 6-of-12.
  • NEXT UP: Skidmore travels to Russell Sage on Nov. 16 for a 6 p.m. game.
