Hat trick for Ibrahim; Thoroughbreds thwart Union 6-0

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Kamal Ibrahim scored three times to lead the Skidmore College men's soccer team to a lopsided 6-0 victory over Union College on Wednesday evening under the lights of Wachenheim Field.

  • With a 3-1-3 record in the Liberty League, Skidmore sits tied with Vassar and Hobart for second place with two league games remaining for the Thoroughbreds. Skidmore improves to 6-2-5 overall.
  • For Ibrahim, the three-goal outburst marks his fifth multi-goal game of the year. The junior is up to 13 goals on the season, which leads the Liberty League by four.
  • Six goals marks the largest goal differential in a win in the head-to-head series with Union (3-8-2, 0-5-1 Liberty League) dating back to 1983. The Thoroughbreds have won four of the past five meetings with the Dutchmen.
  • Max Mian, Leo Ethan Kachanovsky, and Alec Llerena each scored their first goals of the season for Skidmore.
  • Mian also had an assist. Cole Rogan picked up an assist on Skidmore's sixth goal.
  • Neither team mounted much offensively in the early goings, but it was Ibrahim who broke the ice at 30:49. He got his second, from Mian, just 58 seconds later.
  • Mian followed it up with a tally at 34:04.
  • Kachanovsky wrapped up the 4-0 first half with a goal with 6:38 remaining.
  • Ibrahim hit again from long range to complete the hat trick at 63:08.
  • Llerena finished off the scoring with a dish from Rogan with 3:24 remaining.
  • Bobby Stratts earned the shutout, his third, after making five saves.
  • NEXT UP: Skidmore will host league leader and nationally 24th-ranked St. Lawrence Saturday, Oct. 22 at 3 p.m.
