Skidmore threatens top ranked Middlebury

MIDDLEBURY, Vt.—The Skidmore College field hockey team gave number one and four-time defending national champion Middlebury College all it could handle Wednesday afternoon in a nonconference match-up. Two late Panther goals broke open a one-goal game in a 6-3 Middlebury win. The Panthers are 12-0 and have won 42 straight games. Skidmore is 7-6 and is the first team to score three goals in a regular season game against Middlebury since the 2018 season and the first non-NESCAC team to do it since Messiah in the 2016 NCAA Championship game. The last time Middlebury gave up three goals in a non-league regular-season game was in 2010 against…Skidmore.
