SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – RIT held Skidmore to one third-quarter field goal to take control late in a 71-58 Liberty League women's basketball win Friday night at the Williamson Center.

The Thoroughbreds are 9-5 overall and 4-5 in league play, while the Tigers jump to 8-7 and 5-5.

Cassie Davidson came off the bench to score a career-high 12 points to lead the Thoroughbreds.
Julia Blanck added 11 points, eight points and two blocks.

Kaleesha Johnson led four Tigers in double figures with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Emma Waite and Alyssa Juergens scored 17 each, with Waite contributing six assists.

The teams played a close first half, with RIT scratching out a 35-29 lead.

Skidmore cut it to 35-31 at the start of the third quarter on a pair of free throws from Blanck. The Tigers used an 11-2 run to open a 46-33 lead. They extended the advantage to 18, 57-39 before another pair of Blanck free throws cut it to 57-41 at the end of the quarter. The Thoroughbreds were 1-12 from the floor, but hit 10 of 16 free throws to stay in the game.

RIT stayed in control to lead by as many as 20, before Skidmore closed the game with an 8-1 run for the 71-58 final.

The Thoroughbreds regained their shooting touch, going 8-16 from the floor in the fourth quarter.

Led by Davidson and eight points from
Andi Levitz, Skidmore had a 32-3 advantage in bench points.

The team is right back at it Saturday against Union College in a 2 p.m. home game.
