Â
After a slow start in distance shooting, Skidmore bounced back from a 2-of-15 start and made 4-of-8 3-pointers in the second half.
Â
The contest featured a seesaw opening half that saw six lead changes and eight ties until Skidmore took the lead for good with 5:38 left in the first half. The Thoroughbreds were up by as much as 14 in the mid-stages of the second half until Hobart barged forward to get back to within five with just 2:03 left. Fueled by a Greene 3-point play that swung momentum back to the Thoroughbreds' favor, Skidmore went on to hold off the threat from the hosts. Hobart was unable to hit any of its six 3-point attempts over the final 65 seconds of play.
"It was good to get some guys back on the floor and get a conference road win," Skidmore head coach
Joe Burke said. "This team has been through a lot over the last few weeks, but nobody is ever going to feel sorry for us. We just need to be resilient and play basketball regardless of who is cleared to play. I thought we competed with a level of toughness today that helped us prevail."
Â
With the win, Skidmore improves to 6-4 overall and 2-2 in the Liberty League. Hobart is 4-8 and 1-4. The Thoroughbreds will travel to Ithaca on Friday, Jan. 21 and RPI on Sunday, Jan. 23. Â
