SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - The Skidmore College women's basketball team fell to Vassar, 83-71, in a Liberty League contest at home on Friday evening.

The Thoroughbreds drop to 7-3 overall and 2-3 in the league. Vassar improves to 7-1 since the start of December after an 0-6 start. The Brewers are 6-1 in the Liberty League.

Julia Blanck had 16 points and seven rebounds for Skidmore.
Kate McCarney had 12 points and a pair of assists.
Clare Driscoll had a team-high five assists and four blocks. Skidmore finished with 10 blocks while Vassar had one.
Andi Levitz also had 12 points for the Thoroughbreds on 4-of-7 shooting from behind the arc.
Maddie Hastings posted three assists and four steals.

The Brewers made 13 3-pointers and finished 43.3 percent from beyond the arc as a team. Julia Harvey led the way for Vassar in scoring with 24 points on 5-of-10 from deep. Sarah Gillooly had 17 points and 10 rebounds for her double-double and a game-high seven assists. Alex Lee was a perfect 4-of-4 from 3-point range and had 14 points.

After a back-and-forth opening quarter, Vassar nearly hit the 60-percent mark in shooting in the second stanza to lead by 13 at the half. The lead grew to its highest at 25 near the end of the third quarter. The Thoroughbreds fought back in the fourth, outscoring Vassar 26-16 over the last 10 minutes. A
Becca Horger layup with 2:34 remaining in regulation cut Vassar's lead down to 11. Levitz hit a 3-pointer in the closing seconds of the third quarter before adding three more and two assists to catapult the Thoroughbred fourth-quarter push.

Skidmore's bench outscored Vassar's 27-8. The Thoroughbreds also had a 15-6 edge in second-chance points, and 34-22 in the paint.
