Volleyball kicks off campaign at Springfield Invite

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.—The Skidmore College volleyball team opened the 2021 season at the Springfield Invitational. The Thoroughbreds went 1-3.
 
Keene State 3 (25-19, 25-22, 25-13)

Chelsea Winegar had a team-high six kills, while Elizabeth Miller totaled 10 digs. Audrey Powell added 14 assists, two aces, two blocks and five kills.
 
Skidmore 3 (24-26, 25-14, 25-16, 25-22)
Westfield State 1
 
After dropping a tight first set, Skidmore regrouped and won three straight for the win. Winegar had 15 kills and 25 digs, while Powell had 26 assists, 11 kills and three blocks. Grace Aronson had a team-high six blocks. Frida Anguiano had 29 digs.
 
Endicott 3 (25-13, 25-20, 20-25, 25-15)

Jessica Shulman led the Skidmore in kills (7), assists (13), and digs (9). Aronson had four blocks.

The Thoroughbreds closed out the tournament against the host school. Powell had 12 assists, two blocks, and six digs. Aronson added three more blocks to finish with 14 for the weekend.
