WATERVILLE, Maine— A balanced attack led the Skidmore College field hockey team to a 7-3 road win over Thomas College in the season opener for both teams.

The Thoroughbreds had goals from six different players, with eight players picking-up at least one point.

Mariah Redler led the way with two goals and three assists for seven points.
Carrie Hughes,
Carolyn Blackman,
Annabelle Oates,
Morgan Sickels, and
Kayla Hassett all had single goals.

Skidmore led 4-1 at the half and extended the lead to 5-1 before Thomas scored twice to stay in the game 5-3. Insurance goals less than a minute apart by Redler and Hughes put the game away.

The Thoroughbreds had a 22-8 shot advantage.
Jess Gaetgens had four saves for the win.

Skidmore is at St. Joseph College Saturday for a 12 p.m. game.
