Thoroughbreds knock out Hawks in OT

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—Liz Foley kept digging and finally came up with the ball and then the goal in 35 seconds into the second overtime to give the Skidmore College women's soccer team a 2-1 overtime win against SUNY New Paltz.

The Thoroughbreds are 2-1, while the Hawks fall to 0-2-1.

Ella Stone put Skidmore in front when she placed a rocket into the far side top corner from 30 yards out in the 25th minute.

Rachel Eisert tied it with a one-timer off a corner from Dana Salinas at 68:04.

After a scoreless first overtime, Katheryn Dunn got a shot off that New Paltz goalie Kyra Russell saved, but had a tough time handling the ball that came loose on the goal line. Foley won the possession battle and came through with her first collegiate goal and the game-winner.

Shots were 16-15 Skidmore, with New Paltz holding a 7-6 corner edge. Ava Keller had seven saves with one in overtime. Russo finished with five saves.
