Thoroughbreds extend win streak with Union sweep

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College softball team is in position for Liberty League playoff spot with a 5-4, 5-3 sweep of Union College Thursday evening at Wagner Park.
 
The Thoroughbreds have won eight straight and have a shot at finishing over .500 for the first time since 2010 with a 10-6 overall and Liberty League record. The team closes out the regular season with a four-game home-and-home series with Ithaca College at home Saturday and at Ithaca on Sunday.
 
GAME 1
 
Lindsey Raimondi earned her fifth win over the season and Hannah Davis picked-up her second save of the season with two innings of relief.
 
Meghan Robertson was 2-4 with a run and Megan White was 1-4 with two RBI. Delaney Corbet was 1-2 with two runs and a clutch RBI single in the fourth.
 
GAME 2
 
The Thoroughbreds plated four runs in the bottom of the third for a 4-0 lead. Megan White had an RBI double and Katie Anderson drilled an 0-2 pitch to deep left center for a two-run double for the big plays in the third. White added an insurance run with an RBI triple to center in the fourth.
 
White finished 2-2 with a run and two RBI. Melissa Mathias was 2-3 with two runs and a double.
 
Robertson improved to 4-2 with the four-inning relief win. She didn't allow any runs and only three hits with no walks and two strikeouts.
