GENEVA, N.Y.—The third seed Skidmore College men's tennis team beat Hobart 5-1 to advance to Saturday's Liberty League championship match at Rensselaer. It was the team's second win of the season over the Statesmen (6-2).

The Thoroughbreds (6-1) are defending champions and have won five of the last six titles, with RPI taking the 2018 title. The Engineers handed Skidmore its lone loss of the season 6-3 on April 24 in Troy.

Skidmore was up 2-1 after doubles.
Tristan Thiebaut picked up the first singles win 6-0, 6-2 over Guthrie Speers at number six.
Connor Biernat won 6-4, 6-0 at number five against Jeff Wright, then
Zachary Portnoy clinched the match 6-0, 6-4 at number three singles over Jeremy Atwater for the 5-1.
