ROME, Ga.—The Skidmore College women's tennis team beat North Central College 5-1 to advance to the third round of the NCAA Division III Championships Saturday afternoon at the Rome Tennis Center.
 
The Thoroughbreds (8-1) will play the winner of Sewanee and Babson on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. The winner advances to the NCAA Quarterfinals on May 24 at the Champions Tennis Club in Chattanooga, Tenn. Sewanee is the host school.
 
Skidmore went up 2-1 after doubles. Risa Fukushige and Maya Lal won 8-3 at number one and Lily Feldman and Chanhtel Thongphok pulled out an 8-5 win at number three.
 
The Thoroughbreds worked quickly in singles. Lal beat Hannah Hougland 6-2, 6-0 at number two, followed by Katherine Almquist's  6-2, 6-1 win over Mikayla Edquiban at number four. Feldman clinched it at number two 6-1, 6-3 over Alaina Kanthaphixay. Skidmore was leading the other three singles when it clinched.
