ROME, Ga.—The Skidmore College women's tennis team lost 5-2 to Sewanee: The University of the South in the third round of the NCAA Division III Championships.
The Thoroughbreds end the season 8-2. Sewanee is 10-2 and will move on the next week's quarterfinals.
After losing the first two doubles matches, the number three Skidmore team of Audrey Soohoo and
Sofia Carlsson batted back to win an 8-6 decision over Caroline Adams and Jordan Besh.
Sewanee took control in singles, winning at five and six before
Risa Fukushige had a dominating 6-1, 6-1 win at number one over Emma Smith. Catherine Owen secured the win for the Tigers at number three 6-3, 6-4 against
Lily Feldman.
The season isn't over yet for Fukushige who will compete in next week's singles championship.
