Skidmore women’s lacrosse releases 2022 schedule

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College women's lacrosse team has released its 2022 season schedule.

The schedule features 16 contests including games against each of the eight Liberty League opponents. The Thoroughbreds are scheduled to play nine games at home at Wachenheim Field.

"It's been a long time since we have played or even thought about playing a full schedule, but I am very excited about our 2022 schedule," Skidmore head coach Elizabeth Ghilardi said. "We have a great balance of home and away games! We have really looked to increase our non-conference strength of schedule by adding St. John Fisher: a final four team from 2021, and Trinity: a perennial powerhouse in the NESCAC."

The regular season is set to kick off on Friday, Feb. 25 at home versus Babson. Other home non-league games include contests versus Trinity (3/9), MIT (3/22), and St. John Fisher (4/15). The Thoroughbreds will also play on the road at Eastern Connecticut State on March 12 and against Bates College at Endicott College on March 15.

Skidmore will open Liberty League play on Saturday, March 19 at home versus Bard.

Following the game versus MIT, the Thoroughbreds will go to Union on Saturday, March 26. Skidmore will complete its three-game road swing on March 30 at Vassar and April 2 at William Smith.

The Thoroughbreds will then play three consecutive home games in a six day stretch, starting with a Saturday, April 9 meeting with St. Lawrence. RPI will visit for a mid-week game on April 12 before the St. John Fisher game on Friday, April 15.

Skidmore will go to Rochester to play University of Rochester on Friday, April 22 and RIT the following afternoon. The Thoroughbreds will close the regular season on Saturday, April 30 at home versus Ithaca.

The Liberty League Quarterfinals are scheduled for Tuesday, May 3. The top seed will host the semifinals and championship game May 7 and 8.

"We are young, but athletic," Ghilardi said. "If the team comes back from winter break in shape and we can fit the pieces together, I have no doubt that the Thoroughbreds will compete in what should be a very competitive Liberty League this spring."
