PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Skidmore College men's basketball team remained unbeaten by using a balanced attack to defeat Plattsburgh State on the road, 85-44.
Â
Greg Skoric had a double-double with 16 points on 8-of-10 shooting with 17 rebounds.
Ty Lamport led Skidmore with 19 points. He went 7-of-11 from the field and 5-of-7 from 3-point range.
Riley Greene posted 16 points and seven assists with four steals, and
Jake Walsh had 14 points and went 4-of-6 from three off the bench.
Â
"Always a good feeling to get a win against a quality program on the road," Skidmore head coach
Joe Burke said.
Â
The Thoroughbreds finished the strong offensive night at 60 percent from the field, and 44.4 percent from long range. Skidmore is off to a 3-0 start for the first time since the 2017-18 Thoroughbreds won their first six games. The Cardinals are 1-3.
Â
Skidmore scored the game's first 17 points to immediately take a commanding lead before taking a 20-point advantage into the half. The beginning of the second stanza went back and forth while the Thoroughbreds continued to inch further ahead to eventually allow for the Thoroughbreds to go to the bench.
Â
"I thought we were a bit sloppy early on the offensive end, but our defense was really good and that allowed us to get some separation," Burke said. "Once we found our rhythm, the guys really got it going. We were also able to get some other guys minutes and much-needed experience."
Â
The 44 points is the fewest allowed by Skidmore since it defeated Clarkson 72-43 on Feb. 19, 2016. Kevin Tabb was the lone Cardinal in double figures with 10 points. Erik Salo had six rebounds, seven points, and two steals.
Â
Skidmore will play its next four games all at home, starting with Hartwick College on Monday, Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. "We're excited to be back home on Monday to play in front of our fans."
