SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College field hockey team put up three first-quarter goals and then held Ithaca to few chances over the final three quarters in a 3-0 Liberty League win Sunday afternoon at Wagner Park.

It was the final Liberty League contest for both teams. The Thoroughbreds have won three straight and are 9-9 overall and 3-4 in league play, while the regular-season champion Bombers lose for the first time this season in league play to fall to 13-4 and 6-1.

Skidmore had the Ithaca defense on its heels for the entire first quarter, taking advantage of five penalty corners to score its three goals.

Mariah Redler started the offense with her 13
th of the season from
Carrie Hughes at 6:28.
Morgan Sickels made it 2-0 when her shot from just inside the circle hit the inside corner of the cage at 10:21. Defender
Madeleine Michaels was in the right position when she scored her first of the season from
Sofia Marshall off another corner after time had expired in the quarter.

Ithaca finally had a few chances in the fourth quarter, but two shots missed an open net and Thoroughbred goalie
Jess Gaetgens came up big with a late save that combined with a
Kayla Hassett defensive save to preserve the shutout.

Shots were limited by decent midfield play by both teams. Skidmore had an 8-7 shot edge and a 9-6 advantage in corners.

The Thoroughbreds close out the season with a pair of non-league games, starting with a road contest at Utica on Oct. 27 at 4 p.m. and a home final on Oct. 30 at 1 p.m. against Cortland.
