SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Josh Gaudiano scored an 85
th-minute goal to power the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's soccer team over Skidmore College, 1-0, on Saturday afternoon.

Gabe Terando collected the assist on the goal after his shot was deflected off a Skidmore defender and directly to Gaudiano in the box for his team-leading fifth goal of the fall.

RPI stretched its winning streak to seven and shutout streak to five to improve to 7-1-1 and 3-0 in the Liberty League. The Engineers have not allowed a goal in just over 450 minutes. The NCAA record is over 1,800 minutes. Skidmore drops to 6-4 and 1-2 in conference play with a pair of 1-0 home defeats. Â

Bobby Stratts was strong for the Thoroughbreds, matching a season high with seven saves including one on a penalty kick in the 64
th minute on Gaudiano. Luke Brezak had five saves on the other end. He also stopped a 77
th-minute penalty kick from
Finn Weber. In the 89
th minute, Brezak stonewalled
Roman Toepler's bid for the equalizer to seal the victory for RPI.

Shots were 17-13 in favor of RPI after both squads posted six in the opening half. RPI also had five corner kicks in the second half with zero from Skidmore to finish with a 7-5 advantage.

Gaudiano led the game with nine shots, including six of RPI's eight shots on goal. Weber led Skidmore with five shots. Toepler had four.

Skidmore is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 9 on the road at Vassar College.
