SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College women's volleyball team improved to 3-2 in Liberty League play with a three-set sweep (25-12, 25-18, 25-13) over Union College on Wednesday.

The Thoroughbreds are 10-10 with eight contests remaining on the docket. The Dutchwomen are 4-13 and 0-5 in the conference. Skidmore is now tied with Clarkson for third place in the Liberty League. The top-four squads reach the postseason. Skidmore's remaining conference matches are versus St. Lawrence, at 2-3 in the Liberty League, and Clarkson. Â

Skidmore's balanced attack featured seven kills from
Zoe Beals, five kills from
Grace Aronson, and four each from
Chelsea Winegar and
Ella Harris. Solid defensively, Skidmore finished with nine total team blocks. Beals and Harris each finished with four including one solo block.
Sophie Sacco had three with one solo. The Thoroughbreds were also stellar from the service line, finishing with 15 aces, led by
Audrey Powell with five. Powell also ended with 18 assists.

Morgan Bohlke led Union with eight kills and one block. Farah Elgala had two blocks.

After a comfortable win in set one, Union went on a 7-1 run to tie it at 13 in the second set. Skidmore then took advantage of a four attack errors and a service error to regain the lead and cruise to victory. The third set also featured an early Dutchwomen push, but Winegar won 13-straight points on her serve to put the set and match out of reach.

The Thoroughbreds return to the court on Friday, Oct. 15 at the Babson Invitational to take on Stevens at 6:30p.m. Skidmore will play host Babson and Susquehanna on Saturday, Oct. 16. Â Â Â
