SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — The Skidmore College women's basketball team outscored Union College 23-16 in a fourth quarter comeback, but ultimately fell on the road 61-57 Friday evening.

The Thoroughbreds move to 4-16 and 2-11 in Liberty League play, while the Dutchwomen improve to 9-10 and 6-7.

Kate McCarney led Skidmore with 25 points.
Jessica Centore contributed an additional 15 points.
Maddie Hastings and
Toyin Koleoso both pulled down nine rebounds, while Koleoso had three steals.

Amber Raisner led the Dutchwomen with 24 points. Joana Santos added 13 points and Elly Vaughan finished with 12 points.

The Thoroughbreds got off to a slow start with just two points in the first quarter. Skidmore quickly found its rhythm in the second quarter as Hastings hit two back-to-back jumpers to start a 9-0 scoring. McCarney hit a three pointer followed by a made jumper.

The Dutchwomen came out of the break strong, outscoring Skidmore 23-16 in the third quarter. Skidmore would not go down easily though. Trailing 53-39 with 7:02 remaining, Centore got a fast break jumper to start an 11-0 scoring run to bring Skidmore within three points, 53-50 with 2:40 remaining. However, a good jumper by Raisner and made free throws late in the quarter helped the Dutchwomen outlast Skidmore and secure the 61-57 victory.

The Thoroughbreds continue on the road as they travel south tomorrow to face Bard College at 2 p.m.
