SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College hockey team dropped a 4-1 New England Hockey Conference contest to Hobart College Saturday night at the Saratoga Springs City Rink.
The loss drops the Thoroughbreds to 10-7-4 overall and 6-6-2 in NEHC play. The Statesmen are 14-4-3 and 8-4-2. Skidmore is now tied for sixth place with four games to play.
Skidmore jumped out to a 1-0 lead when
Mike Gelatt found himself alone in front. He snapped a quick shot into the back of the net at 11:33.
Cole Beckstead and
Austin Rook assisted. The Statesmen quickly tied it when Dan Sliney scored off his own rebound at 12:06.
Hobart opened the second period with a pair of power-play goals during a five-minute power play to move ahead 3-1.
An empty net goal at 17:04 of the third provided the 4-1 final.
The Statesmen were 2-7 on the power play, while Skidmore went 0-6.
Hobart had a 33-26 shot advantage.
Brandon Kasel stopped 29 shots for the Thoroughbreds.
Skidmore hosts New England College on Friday at 7 p.m.
