SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—Down 2-1 after doubles, the Skidmore College women's tennis team didn't drop a set in a singles sweep for a 7-2 Liberty League win over Rensselaer Friday night on Wenger Courts.

It was the Liberty League opener for both teams. The Thoroughbreds are 1-0, while the Engineers are 2-1 and 0-1 Liberty.

After an 8-3 loss at number one doubles, Risa Fukushige bounced back for a 6-0, 6-1 win at number one singles over Alex Mednikova.

Renee Karchere-Sun and Sofia Carlsson earned Skidmore's doubles win at number three with an 8-7 (7-5) win over Brenda Peng and Sanjana Surapeneni.

Karchere-Sun also won 6-1, 6-3 at number four singles over Chloe Barr.

Skidmore will play a Liberty League doubleheader on Saturday with a 10 a.m. match at Union and 3 p.m. home match against Bard.
