ALBANY, N.Y.—
Emily Vinick scored from 35 yards out in the 88
th minute to lead the Skidmore College women's soccer team to a 3-2 win over Sage College, Tuesday night at the Albany College of Pharmacy.
The Thoroughbreds move to 5-1-2, while the Gators drop to 4-3.
Skidmore struck first on
Brianna Worobel's first goal of the season off a
Carly Craft cross at 5:35. Sage tied it in the 27
th minute on a deep shot by Natalie Ricci.
Cat Quintana put the Thoroughbreds back in front from
Vanessa Eljaiek at 40:22.
The Gators leveled the game 2-2 in the 61
st minute.
After a Sage goal kick, Vinick stepped in between two players, received the ball and launched a return shot from 35 yards out that beat keeper Kallan Shertzer for the win at 87:25.
Skidmore had a slight 14-11 edge in shots, while the Gators had five corners to three for Skidmore.
Vivian Montgomery-Walsh had three saves in the first half and
Ava Keller stopped two shots over the final 45:00 for the Thoroughbreds.
Skidmore returns to Liberty League play on Saturday with a 3 p.m. match at #4 William Smith.
