POTSDAM, N.Y.—Clarkson University broke open a tight game with two second half goals in a 3-0 Liberty League women's soccer win over Skidmore College Wednesday afternoon in Potsdam.
The loss snaps a five-game season-opening unbeaten streak for the Thoroughbreds (4-1-1, 0-1 Liberty). It was the first win over Skidmore since 2003 for the Golden Knights (6-1-1, 1-0).
Clarkson scored in the ninth minute and then twice a 5:17 span last in the second half.
The Thoroughbreds were outshot 16-9 and had one corner kick to 10 for the Golden Knights.
Next up is a non-league home contest Sept. 21 at 1 p.m. against Oneonta.
