PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Skidmore College women's soccer team remain unbeaten on the season, defeating Plattsburgh on the road 2-0 at the Field House Complex Saturday afternoon.
Skidmore improves to 4-0-1 on the season, its best start since the 2013 season. Plattsburgh falls to 3-2.
Yasmine Boukari opened up the scoring for the Thoroughbreds, tallying her third of the season in the 17
th minute.
Carly Craft played the ball from just outside the top-right corner of the 18-yard box across to Boukari, who beat the Plattsburgh State defenders to the ball. Boukari dribbled past the defense and scored with a right-footed strike from close range.
Emily Vinick doubled the score with her strike in the 74
th minute, tallying her third goal in a 72-hour span. From there, it was up to the Skidmore defense and goalie
Vivian Montgomery-Walsh, who shut the door with two saves, helping to earn the team's second shutout of the season.
Ava Keller made two saves in the first 45 minutes.
Shots were even at 14, but Skidmore held a 10-4 advantage in shots on target. The Thoroughbreds played a relatively clean game, with two fouls called all afternoon.
Julia Ennis made eight saves for Plattsburgh.
Skidmore begins Liberty League action this Wednesday, traveling back up to the North Country to take on Clarkson at 4 p.m.
