ROCHESTER, N.Y.—The Skidmore College softball team picked up its first Liberty League win of the season, 7-4 over RIT in the nightcap of the team's Sunday doubleheader. The Tigers won the first game 10-0.
The Thoroughbreds are 11-13 overall and 1-3 in league play. RIT is 8-12 and 1-3.
First year
Megan White extended her team-record hit streak to 18 in the first game, but went 0-4 I the second game. Â She did reach base on an error in the night cap to move her on base streak record to 24.
GAME 1
RIT scored seven runs the second inning to break the game open. The Tigers added three in the fourth for the 10-0 final. White was 1-3.
Genesis Delgado and
Kaitlyn Judd had the other two Skidmore hits.
GAME 2
Skidmore's bats awoke in the second game. The Thoroughbreds scored seven runs on 12 hits.
Hannah Davis started the scoring with an RBI single to left in the first. Skidmore tacked on three runs on an error in the fourth to lead 4-1.
The Tigers plated two in their half of the fourth to cut it to 4-3, but the Thoroughbreds scored on a bases loaded walk in the fifth and got a pair of insurance runs in the seventh on a White sac fly and
Karly Fishkin double.
Davis was 3-4 with an RBI and earned the win on the mound. She went six innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits. She walked two.
Heather Mak went 3-4 with an RBI, while Judd and
Nicole Rosner had two hits each.
