SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—Senior Cas Szwajkowski scored seven first half goals to lead the Skidmore College women's lacrosse team to a convincing 18-11 Liberty League win over Union College Saturday afternoon at Wachenheim Field.
 
The Thoroughbreds have won three straight overall and five straight Liberty League games to sit 8-3 overall and 5-1 in league play. The Dutchwomen are 4-4 and 1-3.
 
All of Szwajkowski's scoring came in the first half. The seven goals and one assist move her to within four points of the program's career scoring record of 239 points. She has 215 career goals and 20 assists for 235 points. Szwajkowski's seventh goal was her 50th of the season. She has hit that mark three of her four seasons, making her the first Skidmore player to score 50 or more goals three times.
 
Emily Hirsch and Anna Boogaerts scored three goals each for the Thoroughbreds. Natalie LaBeau scored two goals and had an assist, while Grace Connerty scored two goals. Amanda Orvis added a goal and an assist.
 
Ramsey Walsh and Lindsay Gerrato scored three goals each for Union. Gerrato came up with five draws.
 
Skidmore took control right away with three goals in the first three minutes on the way to a 11-3 lead. Szwajkowski started the scoring at 29:10. She scored seven of the team's first 11 goals for an 11-4 lead at the half.
 
The Thoroughbreds opened the second half with a 4-1 run to hit the 10-goal advantage, 15-5. LaBeau had two of the four tallies.
 
The Dutchwomen managed a 5-1 rally late to close the score to 16-10 on the way to the 18-11 final.
 
Skidmore outshot Union 41-28 and had a significant 20-11draw advantage, behind a season-high 11 from Hirsch and eight from Szwajkowski.
 
Caroline Kenlon earned the win with 12 saves. Ellie Taney started for the Dutchwomen, allowing five goals with three saves over the first 12:16. Jenna Paszek had eight saves and 13 goals over the final 47:44.
 
The Thoroughbreds host Vassar midweek on April 10 for a 6 p.m. Liberty League game.
