VERONA, N.Y.—Rough weather caused second round scores to soar in the Liberty League Championships being played at the par-72 Kaluhyat Course at the Turning Stone Resort.
New York University continues to lead the 54-hole event with 306-327--633. Clarkson is close behind in second with 309-329—638. Rochester (319-327—646) and Rensselaer (309-337—646) are tied for third.  Skidmore is fifth (313-346—659. St. Lawrence (319-341—660) and Hobart (322-355--677) round out the field.
The winner gets the league's NCAA automatic qualifier. Sunday's final round begins at 9 a.m.
Wind sent Saturday's average round soaring to 85.94, well off Friday's opening round average of 79.4 for the 35 competing players. Â
Harry Grosso totaled Skidmore's low round. He shot 81, moving into a tie for 13
th with 80-81—161. He had the team's only two birdies of the day.
Gabriel Rossi (74-88—162) is tied for 13
th.
Damian Hammond (80-86—166) is tied for 18
th and
Walker Stroud (79-91—170) is 25
th.
Jacob Hempel (86-102—188) is 35
th.
