SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Freshman pitcher
Hannah Davis spun a two-hitter to lead the Skidmore College softball team in a doubleheader sweep of Southern Vermont on a cold Sunday afternoon at Wagner Park. The Thoroughbreds took game one 8-0 in five innings and game two 7-0.
Skidmore improves to 10-9 with the sweep. Southern Vermont falls to 4-8.
Davis kept the Mountaineer bats off balance in game two, allowing just two early hits in seven innings pitched. She struck out a season-best eight batters, improving her record to 4-2 on the season.
Offensively, the Thoroughbreds managed 12 hits.
Karly Fishkin went 3-for-3, driving in a pair of runs in the sixth inning.
Megan White went 2-for-4, hitting her first home run of the season, a solo shot to left center field in the third inning. Davis and
Delaney Corbet each went 2-for-3, driving in a run.
Genesis Delgado,
Hannah Paolucci, and
Kaitlyn Judd each tallied a hit.
Julia Whipple (2-5) took the loss, allowing six earned in six innings pitched. She struck out one batter.
In game one, Skidmore jumped on Southern Vermont with three-run innings in the second, fourth, and fifth. Corbet got the scoring started with a two-RBI single to right field. A sacrifice fly by White in the next at-bat gave Skidmore a 3-0 lead.
In the fourth, Corbet led off the inning with a single after an 11-pitch at-bat. After stealing second, White brought her home with an RBI double. Fishkin drove White home in the next at-bat with an RBI single. After an error got Delgado on, Paolucci made the Mountaineers pay with a single to give Skidmore a 6-0 lead.
With the eight-run rule looming, Skidmore put the game away in the next inning. Corbet knocked in another RBI single and Fishkin put the finishing touches with a walk-off, RBI single.
Skidmore tallied 14 hits in game one, led by a 4-for-4 performance by Fishkin. She tallied two RBIs and stole two bases. Corbet went 3-for-3 with three RBIs. White went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs. Paolucci, Davis,

Katie Anderson, and
Emily Popp also tallied hits. Popp was also electric in the circle, improving to 4-4 with five scoreless innings, allowing just four hits and striking out a season-high 10 batters.
McKenzie Ebert (2-3) took the loss for Southern Vermont, allowing eight earned in 4.2 innings pitched.
With the 10-game home stand in the books, Skidmore will take the road, visiting 16
th-ranked Williams on Wednesday, April 3 for a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m.
