SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College softball team rode a nine-run fourth inning to a 16-1 win over Mass College of the Liberal Arts in the first of two games Thursday. The Trail Blazers took the nightcap 2-1.
The Thoroughbreds are 7-8, while MCLA is 3-13.
GAME 1
Skidmore sent 13 players to the plate, scoring nine runs in the fourth inning to turn a 7-1 lead into a 16-1 final.
Genesis Delgado had a two-run double to start the run.
Heather Mak had a bases loaded triple for the innings other key hit.
Katie Anderson went 3-3 with two doubles and three RBI.
Megan White was 1-3 with a triple and three runs.
Delaney Corbet was 2-4 with a double and three RBI and Hanna Davis went 2-2 with a double and two RBI.
Emily Popp (3-3) was solid, allowing one run on two hits with three strikeouts for the complete game win.
GAME 2
MCLA's pitching made a marked improvement in the second game. Samantha Feinstein allowed one unearned run on four hits with seven strikeouts.
A pair of unearned first inning runs were all the Trailblazers needed.
Skidmore scored its run in the second when Davis singled to right and scored on Anderson's infield out .
Starter
Nicole Rosner (2-3) took the loss. Davis pitched three innings of one-hit scoreless relief. Popp finished with 2.1 innings of one-hit scoreless relief of her own.
