SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The 26
th-ranked Skidmore College men's tennis team picked up its third consecutive shutout of the spring, a 9-0 home victory over NYU, at the Wilton YMCA Saturday afternoon.
Skidmore (4-1), moving up to spots to 26
th in the latest iteration of the Intercollegiate Tennis Rankings (ITA) released last Thursday, wins its fourth straight match after dropping the season opener. NYU drops its first dual match of the season to fall to 2-1.
The Thoroughbreds switched things up in doubles, with
JT Wynne pairing up with
Noah Williamson at the top spot, with
Travis Leaf pairing up with
Suraj Mahtani at No. 2. The results were solid, as Wynne and Williamson defeated NYU's Zeb Zheng and Lucas Biondi 8-4, while Leaf and Mahtani picked up a dominating 8-1 win over Rahul Das and Levi Shlyankevich.
Jason Keye and
Jack McClaren completed the sweep with an 8-1 win at No. 3 over Stefan Rodic and Vishal Walia.
In singles, Williamson dominated Zheng at No. 5, winning in straight sets 6-0, 6-2.
Connor Biernat also picked up a victory at No. 6, defeating Josh Piatos 6-4, 6-1. Leaf overcame a strong effort from Das in the 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 3, while Mahtani prevailed in the second set of his match at No. 4, defeating Yanik Parsch 7-5, 7-6 (7-4). Wynne and McClaren each dropped their first set, but rallied back to victory. McClaren defeated Rodic at No. 2 4-6, 6-4, 6-2, while Wynne defeated Walia at the top spot by a 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 score.
Skidmore will complete the weekend with a trip to Bard on Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
