GENEVA, N.Y. – The Skidmore College women's basketball team could not answer an early William Smith run, dropping a road contest to the Herons by a 77-45 score, in Liberty League action at Bristol Gymnasium Friday evening.
Skidmore falls to 7-15 overall and 6-9 in Liberty League contests. William Smith improves to 14-7 and 10-5.
William Smith scored the first 15 points of the game, before
Clare Driscoll answered with a pair of 3-pointers late in the period. William Smith took a 22-6 lead into the second quarter and would stretch its lead to as many as 23 in the first half.
Skidmore outscored William Smith 19-15 in the third quarter, pushing the deficit to 17 at the end of the period, but the Herons shot 62.5 percent (10-of-16) from the field to finish the game with a 22-7 advantage.
Jessica Centore led the Thoroughbreds with 18 points and a career-high six steals. Driscoll added 10 points off the bench.
Stavriana Dimitrakopoulou led the Herons with 20 points and six rebounds. Olivia Hughes added 16 points, while Juliana Gamboa chipped in 14.
Skidmore will play its last road game of the regular season on Saturday, visiting RIT at 2 p.m.
