ROCHESTER, N.Y.—The Rochester Institute of Technology outscored Skidmore 23-10 in the third quarter on the way to a 71-48 Liberty League women's basketball win Saturday afternoon.
The loss leaves the Thoroughbreds in seventh place, one out of a playoff spot, with a 7-16 overall and 6-10 league record. The Tigers (16-6, 11-4) avenge a Jan. 11 59-56 loss to Skidmore.
Sydney Tsutsui came off the bench to lead the Thoroughbreds with 15 points.
Taylor Ong added 10 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
Tara Lynch led all scorers with 26 points for RIT.
Skidmore kept it a two-possession game in the first half until a Tiger late jumper gave RIT a 29-22 lead at the half.
RIT opened the third quarter with a 23-5 game that put the game out of reach 52-27.
The Tigers scored 28 points off 28 Skidmore turnovers, while the Thoroughbreds registered 19 points off 15 RIT miscues.
Skidmore is still in the playoff hunt with two regular season games at home next weekend. The Thoroughbreds host Clarkson on Friday at 5 p.m. and St. Lawrence on Saturday at 2 p.m. for Senior Day and the Big Green Scream.
