POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Vassar College jumped out to a 23-5 first quarter lead on the way to a 64-42 win over Skidmore College in Liberty League women's basketball action Wednesday night.

The Thoroughbreds drop to 2-7, 0-3 in Liberty League play, while the Brewers improve to 5-3, 2-1 in the conference.

Clare Driscoll led Skidmore in both points and rebounds, scoring 12 points and pulling down nine boards on the night.

Meggy Wiley each added seven points.

Three players on the Brewers side scored double figures. Isa Peczuh led the team with 12 points with Sophie Nick following with 11 points. Ryan DeOrio added an additional 10 points. Alex Lee led the Brewers in the paint, finishing the night off with ten rebounds.

Vassar came out strong in the first half holding Skidmore to only 11 points. Skidmore could not find the answers to the Brewers' 50% shooting percentage from beyond the arc as they went into the half with a 34-11 deficit.

Coming out of the half it looked like Skidmore had found some answers, outscoring the Brewers 31-30 over the final two quarters. After shooting 15.4% in the first half, the Thoroughbreds went 12-30 for an improved 40% in the second half.

Skidmore is off for the  semester break, returning for a Jan. 4 home game at 4 p.m. against Williams College.
